What's New This Week

ALL THE NEW URLS we receive each week are here. We list two (sometimes three) weeks' worth, cycling the old ones off each week. As they disappear from this page, you'll find the links moved to their natural home categories in our resource pages.

If you can't find something that was once here, you can look in our archives or try the AO search engine. It searches our entire site, and it can also search all of the sites to which we link.

Exchanges
USA --> 'Somewhere exciting'
Rector of a small parish in Southwestern Virginia (Grace, Radford) is looking for an exchange in July or August 2003 somewhere exciting and new. With four small children (5, 4, 2, and 4 months), we need a situation that is conducive to little ones. Responsibilities would include two Sunday Eucharistic services in a beautiful church and a close proximity to rafting, fishing, and all of the outdoor adventure offered by the New River Valley. Please email FrKris@i-plus.net for more information.

Special report: How the Crown Appointments Commission Votes, by UK-Europe editor Simon Sarmiento

Odds and Ends
Anglican Society for the Welfare of Animals: The submitter says 'ASWA is the only organization I know of within our denomination that shows a concern for the treatment of all animals (not just endangered species). It also offers churches literature and liturgies for a variety of prayer services specifically on behalf of animals'. The Society is based in England, but offers resources that would serve throughout the Communion where English is the primary language.

Preaching resources
The Living Pulpit: 'An ecumenical conversation about the importance of preaching. Each issue of the journal focuses on an important issue and then explores that issue in depth utilizing the viewpoints of different voices for the sake of new understanding. It is our view that preachers have enough "how to" journals available on preaching but not too much available at the level of the "so what" of preaching. Our hope is to deepen and explore the question of the "so what"'.

Theological resources
The Institute of Early Christianity: 'Formed in 1998 with the forward-looking goal of shaping a global movement of individuals who share an interest in early Christian literature. The vision of this effort is to engage participants without regard for denominational affiliation or faith perspective, in the belief that discovering the early and divergent views of the first people of faith, is a worthy end in itself'.
Offers a certificate programme and various courses, as well as an annual conference. The institute is based in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.
