Noted This Week

WHENEVER WE LEARN about a web site that we haven't previously listed, we'll note it here. Sometimes such sites are brand new and sometimes they have been around for a while without our having noticed. We list two weeks’ worth, cycling the old ones off each week. As they disappear from this page, you'll find the links moved to their natural home categories in our resource pages. We do not mention on this page remakes of sites that are already in our listings.

If you can't find something that was once here, you can look in our archives or try the AO search engine. It searches our entire site. If you still can't find it, please let us know.

If you would like your website listed at Anglicans Online, please use this form to tell us about it.

Schools and education
Guam: St John's School: An international college preparatory school in Tumon Bay, Guam.

Worth Noting
Call Waiting: 'The Church of England wants to encourage gifted and committed young men and women, from all kinds of backgrounds, to consider whether God is calling them into ordained ministry as priests. From there, there are lots of exciting and challenging job options! You can find out more about those choices on this website. If you feel a sense of calling from God, we'll help you explore that and consider what to do next.'

Seeking to Build a Just Economy: 'Can those caught up in the existing structures develop the imagination and daring to see in these and other emerging mechanisms the signs of a people-driven economic future? That is part of the huge political and theological challenge framed by tumbling shares, dashed hopes, troubled spirits and mounting fears. Let’s try being the alternative for a change, rather than simply advocating it or dismissing it.' Simon Barrow writes for Ekklesia.

Inappropriate language for Bible translation?: The Telegraph (London) reports on the plan to translate the Bible into the Jamaican patois language, and on the opposition to this plan by people who think that a translation into this spoken-only language would be demeaning to scripture.

Worth Noting
Living in time with the rhythm of the Church's year: Graham Kings writes for the Times (London). 'In reordering our lives in moments of turmoil, it may be worth considering the rhythm of a year, rather than just of a day or a month. Imagine the year ahead of you. What comes to mind? When does that year begin? Whose year is it? An intriguing question is how do you make God smile?'

Hymns, hell, handbaskets: 'Graham Kendrick - the author of such painful hymns as Shine, Jesus, Shine has been included amongst a list of 50 people responsible for ruining Britain.' Jonathan Wynne-Jones writes in the Telegraph (London).
