Noted This Week

WHENEVER WE LEARN about a web site that we haven't previously listed, we'll note it here. Sometimes such sites are brand new and sometimes they have been around for a while without our having noticed. We list two weeks’ worth, cycling the old ones off each week. As they disappear from this page, you'll find the links moved to their natural home categories in our resource pages. We do not mention on this page remakes of sites that are already in our listings.

If you can't find something that was once here, you can look in our archives or try the AO search engine. It searches our entire site. If you still can't find it, please let us know.

If you would like your website listed at Anglicans Online, please use this form to tell us about it.

Not in the Communion
The Universal Anglican Church: 'a truly contemporary Church that blends the best of historic Christianity with practices and theology firmly rooted in the 21st Century. Our clergy are from diverse backgrounds, and our ministries reflect that diversity. Among those ministries are parishes, counseling ministries, prison ministries, healing ministries, religious orders, and homeless ministries. We believe that our ministries should serve the needs of the communities in which they reside, and to accomplish that we allow those ministries the freedom to design programs that meet those needs.'

sermons4layreaders.com: 'Many of our Continuing Anglican churches presently lack a resident priest, and must perforce be ministered to by Lay Readers, who, of course, cannot celebrate the Eucharist, and are not authorized to conduct the AnteCommunion, and thus will lead Morning or Evening Prayer. Since Lay Readers are not authorized to preach sermons of their own composition, there is a need for preauthorized homilies they can read. Since Morning and Evening Prayer do not use the same lectionary as does the Eucharist, it seems appropriate that there be homilies based on the lessons actually read. I was invited to prepare a series of such addresses, and the following are my humble attempt to fill that request.'

Worth Noting
Dancing in time to a divinely ordained rhythm of life: Geoffrey Rowell writes for the Times (London). 'What is revealed is the God of unconditional love. Jesus, the one who reveals him, is the way, the truth and the life, but it is part of that amazing grace that Jesus opens up for us the treasures of other religions, and the treasures of all Creatures who long for unconditional love — to receive it and to give it. That is the dance to the music of time, because it is the dance of divine and eternal love.'

A Liturgical Christmas: Ferdinand von Prondzynski (President of Dublin City University) writes for Thinking Anglicans at the end of Christmastide.' Maybe I am just too old-fashioned. Or maybe, we are losing our way just a little.'

Worth Noting
Christmas messages: A few more have trickled in this week. The Anglican Communion News Service provides this digest.

Look for the holy in the right place: Andrew Spurr writes for Thinking Anglicans. 'We need this view of divinity now, as never before. The majority of our world is malnourished, and since 1945 we have come to the end of being able to use violence as a solution; we need this view of the sacred which is non-violent before we go up in a nuclear flash.'
