Noting The theology of enough. John Madeley writes for the Telegraph (London) about sustainability as more important than growth. 'The stockmarket might learn to accept that as normal, instead of having a nervous breakdown. It might even stop reacting in a way that makes things worse. We all stand to gain from a change in the way that we view recession. And accepting that enough is enough might, into the bargain, allow us to reduce our carbon emissions.' The Village Church for Village Life Award 2009: Country Life magazine carries this article on its fine 'competition celebrating the work of rural parishes that have adapted their churches to serve village life in the 21st century'. 'The award seeks to discover the finest example of a historic, rural parish church that has successfully engaged the wider community to create a focus for village life in the 21st century. Churches must demonstrate that the whole community—worshippers and non-worshippers alike—has played an active part in the project.' Nominations should be made before Shrove Tuesday, 2009. |
Africa Resources Australia Book of Common Prayer The Niugini Liturgy (1970). 'This diocesan eucharistic liturgy was published seven years before the formal inauguration of the Anglican Church of Papua New Guinea. Many local languages in this province have been used for Anglican liturgical translations, but English serves as a lingua franca. This is the first liturgy prepared for Papua New Guinea that departs from the traditional BCP order in several respects, anticipating changes adopted by some parts of the Anglican Communion later in the decade. The Niugini Liturgy was prepared and published by the Right Reverend David Hand (1918-2006), whose ministry in New Guinea spanned from 1946 to 2006.' Book
