Noted This Week

WHENEVER WE LEARN about a web site that we haven't previously listed, we note it here. Sometimes such sites are brand new and sometimes they have been around for a while without our having noticed. We list two weeks' worth, cycling the old ones off each week. As they disappear from this page, you'll find the links moved to their natural home categories in our resource pages. We do not mention on this page remakes of sites that are already in our listings.

If you can't find something that was once here, you can look in our archives or try the AO search engine. It searches our entire site. If you still can't find it, please let us know.

If you would like your website listed at Anglicans Online, please use this form to tell us about it.

Australia
Resources
National Home Mission Fund - Anglican Outback Fund: 'The Anglican Church in Outback Australia today is faithful, scattered, small and under-resourced but nevertheless resilient and innovative. Outback Anglicans are known to travel 100 kilometres or more to and from worship in a small congregation. Clergy travel huge distances and the cost of that travel is very expensive. Many congregations are without clergy and have been so for some time usually because ordained ministry cannot be afforded. In many parts of Australia the Anglican Church is seeking to find new ways of providing ministry in the Outback.'

Book of Common Prayer
Doregari Kotopu (1916). This translation of the Holy Communion service from the 1662 BCP into Binandere is the work of Copland King (1868-1918) a botanist, zoologist, and linguist whose missionary life and significant translation activity are chronicled in Gilbert White's A Pioneer of Papua.

Liturgical Resources
The New Daily Office. 'The primary goal of The Daily Office Breviary is to give those for whom the New Daily Office is a viable conduit to the Living God a text that is easy to use and not a distraction and is still faithful to the ideals set by inclusivity and gender neutrality. The secondary goal is to provide texts that give a variety of options or topics upon which one might daily meditate. Given the fact that for many the offering of both Morning and Evening Prayer is not an option due to time constraints, these texts give the choice of offering the Office either in the morning or in the evening and at noon and late at night.'
