Noted This Week

WHENEVER WE LEARN about a web site that we haven't previously listed, we note it here. Sometimes such sites are brand new and sometimes they have been around for a while without our having noticed. We list two weeks' worth, cycling the old ones off each week. As they disappear from this page, you'll find the links moved to their natural home categories in our resource pages. We do not mention on this page remakes of sites that are already in our listings.

If you can't find something that was once here, you can look in our archives or try the AO search engine. It searches our entire site. If you still can't find it, please let us know.

If you would like your website listed at Anglicans Online, please use this form to tell us about it.

Worth Noting
Robert Corbet Singleton, blogger: R.C. Singleton (1810-1881) was a Victorian Anglican educational reformer and co-founder of Radley College, Oxford. His diary, never before published in its entirety, is now being transcribed for weblog posts by Radley College.

St George's Windsor Lecture 2009: 'The Rt Revd the Lord Eames of Armagh, OM, gave the Annual Lecture of the College of St George, Windsor Castle on 26 May 2009. Speaking on the theme of the mechanics of reconciliation, he drew from his extensive experience both in the Anglican Communion and in ministering in Northern Ireland.'

We Will, With God's Help: 'published in June 2009 by the Chicago Consultation, is a collection of essays about perspectives on baptism, sexuality and the Anglican Communion. A new Primus for the Scottish Episcopal Church. Hope for a miracle in Melbourne. Clowns of God. Unjust discrimination (s there another sort?) Australian dioceses suffer big financial losses. Three California churches returned. All this, and more, in the News Centre.

Not in the Communion
Anglican Independent Communion Australia: 'Our denomination originates from England and is a separate entity from the Anglican Church of Australia. We continue to believe in everything the Church of England accepted & taught before it was swamped by liberalism. AIC Australia was formed in 2006 when Reverend Peter McInnes was accepted as the Vicar-general for Australia in 2006, prior to his consecration into the Episcopate in September 2006, where one Priest was incardinated, three Deaconess’ and one Deacon were ordained into the AIC Australia.'

Religious Orders
The Society of the Precious Blood, Burnham Abbey. 'We are a contemplative Augustinian community [of women] and our principal work is worship, thanksgiving and intercession.' Founded in 1905, at Burnham Abbey since 1916.

Worth Noting
Measuring British religion: Nick Spencer writes for the Guardian (London). 'Religion is too broad and complex a topic to lend itself to single, easy, incontestable measures. Church attendance does not measure the strength of Christianity in this country, any more than the 2001 census does.'

Thinking Aloud: The Right Revd David Chillingworth has been elected Primus of the Scottish Episcopal Church. He is to our knowledge the only primate with a weblog.
