Noted This Week

WHENEVER WE LEARN about a web site that we haven't previously listed, we note it here. Sometimes such sites are brand new and sometimes they have been around for a while without our having noticed. We list two weeks' worth, cycling the old ones off each week. As they disappear from this page, you'll find the links moved to their natural home categories in our resource pages. We do not mention on this page remakes of sites that are already in our listings.

If you can't find something that was once here, you can look in our archives or try the AO search engine. It searches our entire site. If you still can't find it, please let us know.

If you would like your website listed at Anglicans Online, please use this form to tell us about it.

Anglican rite!: Mary Valle writes for Killing the Buddha. Read it to believe it.

Burying the Dead: Our friends at Full Homely Divinity have written a fine essay on Christian customs associated with funerals and burial. 'the way we deal with death touches us at the very heart of our faith. The way we deal with the dead speaks volumes about what we truly believe and recovering our distinctive funeral customs must be understood as an intrinsic part of our witness to the Gospel.'

Good Grief?: Alan Wilson writes for the Guardian (London) on social networking and grieving. 'As a pastor, it strikes me that social networking sites like Facebook could play an important, even vital, role in helping people grieve. [...] Like the burgeoning roadside shrines which are now springing up around England, they mark genuine love, and a new kind of communal response to death.'

The Vatican thirst for power divides Christianity and damages Catholicism: Hans Küng weighs in on Pope Benedict's invitation to Anglicans. .

'The 2011 Trust has been established to celebrate the 400th anniversary of the King James Bible which was completed in 1611. There have been few more important single publications and its impact through history has been colossal. 2011 will be launched at Hampton Court, where the translation was commissioned at the 1604 Conference. The year will close on 16 November 2011 with a service in Westminster Abbey where, in the Jerusalem Chamber, the final editing of the Bible was completed.'
