Noted This Week

WHENEVER WE LEARN about a web site that we haven't previously listed, we note it here. Sometimes such sites are brand new and sometimes they have been around for a while without our having noticed. We list two weeks' worth, cycling the old ones off each week. As they disappear from this page, you'll find the links moved to their natural home categories in our resource pages. We do not mention on this page remakes of sites that are already in our listings.

If you can't find something that was once here, you can look in our archives or try the AO search engine. It searches our entire site. If you still can't find it, please let us know.

If you would like your website listed at Anglicans Online, please use this form to tell us about it.

Worth Noting
Church movements will always fall short of perfection: Geoffrey Rowell writes for the Times (London). 'here and now every Christian community is challenged to live out the marks of the Church, and to seek to reflect that in the decisions that it makes'

Grumpy bishop: Nick Baines writes, inter alia, 'I am a miserable killjoy who wants to take the magic out of Christmas. Apparently.'

Music to keep bishops awake: Christopher Howse writes for the Telegraph (London). 'When Samuel Sebastian Wesley was appointed organist of Hereford cathedral in 1832, he found that the eight adult members of the choir were all clergymen aged between 49 and 78. Five were in poor health, two were deemed to be sub-standard and the 78-year-old was exempt from attending services. This was the crisis in which cathedral music found itself, at a time of clamour to take away revenues from the Established Church.'

We've Got Jesus: 'If the makers of Coca-Cola can sell a billion cans of sugar water every 48 hours, surely the Anglican Church of Canada can add value to people’s lives, insists Nicolosi.' Kristen Jenkins writes for Anglican Journal (Toronto).
