Noted This Week

WHENEVER WE LEARN about a web site that we haven't previously listed, we note it here. Sometimes such sites are brand new and sometimes they have been around for a while without our having noticed. We list two weeks' worth, cycling the old ones off each week. As they disappear from this page, you'll find the links moved to their natural home categories in our resource pages. We do not mention on this page remakes of sites that are already in our listings.

If you can't find something that was once here, you can look in our archives or try the AO search engine. It searches our entire site. If you still can't find it, please let us know.

If you would like your website listed at Anglicans Online, please use this form to tell us about it.

Worth Noting
Made for Goodness: Desmond Tutu speaks on [American] National Public Radio about a new book co-authored with his daughter. 'How do I see the world and my role in it? What are the spiritual practices that uphold me? What do I see in the heart of humanity and in the sweep of history that confirms my conviction that goodness will triumph? This book is my answer.'

The Finality of Christ in a Pluralist World: 'So, 'uniqueness' and 'finality': we believe as Christians that because of Jesus Christ a new phase in human history – not just the history of the Middle East or of Europe – has opened. There is now a community representing on earth the new creation, a restored humanity. There is now on earth a community which proclaims God's will for universal reconciliation and God's presence in and among us leading us towards full humanity.' The Archbishop of Canterbury lectures in the Diocese of Guildford.

Worth Noting
Bishop of the Poor: Rowan Williams on Edward King (1829-1910), Bishop of Lincoln: 'he reinvented what a diocesan bishop could be and do, I think, in terms of accessibility, concern for the poorest − not something that other 19th century bishops had ignored, but certainly something that he brought to the fore in a quite fresh way'.

Presidential Address: James Jones, Bishop of Liverpool speaks theologically on matters ethical. 'This address has been about how we handle disagreements about ethical principles within the Body of Christ. It is also about how we promote a Christian humanism whereby we discover before God both how to flourish as human beings in Christ and how to treat each other humanely in the process of that discovery. It is my plea that the Church of England and the Anglican Communion must allow a variety of ethical views on the subject as in this Diocese we do'.

The Sacrament of Lent: Ralph McMichael writes for The Living Church (Milwaukee). 'For the remainder of this Lent, let's give up our anxiety for the new and practice the newness of Christ's eucharistic presence.'
