Noting Coming soonish to a diocese near you: Thinking Anglicans has a helpful collection of material related to legislation on women bishops in the Church of England. Reversing the Church's Decline: 'If you're trying to rescue a struggling institution, whether it is General Motors, Dell or Freemasonry, it's wise to identify what factors will turn the crisis around. These factors are not difficult to identify. Further, if leaders establish a core of critical priorities in time, energy and resources, they would yield fruitfulness.' Kevin Martin writes in The Living Church (Milwaukee). |

Noting RS Thomas, spiritual Clint Eastwood: Luke Coppen, editor of The Catholic Herald, writes in the Guardian about his favourite religious poet. Thomas (1913-2000) was an Anglican priest, an ardent Welsh nationalist and 'a world-class curmudgeon', who has been described as 'a loner taking on the universe, a kind of Clint Eastwood of the spirit'. Spiritual Amnesia: Diana Butler Bass writes for the Huffington Post. 'At the present juncture of history, Western Christianity is suffering from a bad case of spiritual amnesia. Even those who claim to be devout or conservative often know little about the history of their faith traditions. Our loss of memory began more than two centuries ago, at the high tide of the Enlightenment. As modern society developed, the condition of broken memory -- being disconnected from the past -- became more widespread.' You shall have eternal indaba. 'The arrival of Continuing Indaba on the Internet as part of the Anglican Communion web site makes visible the preparatory work already in hand for the series of pilot conversations between dioceses from different parts of the Communion to take place during 2010 and 2011.' |
