Noted This Week

WHENEVER WE LEARN about a web site that we haven't previously listed, we note it here. Sometimes such sites are brand new and sometimes they have been around for a while without our having noticed. We list two weeks' worth, cycling the old ones off each week. As they disappear from this page, you'll find the links moved to their natural home categories in our resource pages. We do not mention on this page remakes of sites that are already in our listings.

If you can't find something that was once here, you can look in our archives or try the AO search engine. It searches our entire site. If you still can't find it, please let us know.

If you would like your website listed at Anglicans Online, please use this form to tell us about it.

I am looking for an exchange priest to look after Okehampton, which is a market town, and two small rural parishes during August 2011. Sunday duties only, other colleagues around. Okehampton is a small town on the edge of the Dartmoor National Park in Devon, a rural county in the west of England it is steeped in history and folk culture. It is ideal for walking or exploring the surfing beaches to the north or the tourist beaches to the south. We offer our home, which is a four bedroom rectory, and the use of our car. We have two children and need at least a three bedroom house in exchange, use of a car would be ideal. Contact scook9673@aol.com.

Worth Noting
No longer Anglican, but English: The Church of England has launched a new website. Don't look for the bad word Anglican there; you won't find it much.

A Beacon in the Darkest Hour: In Nevada (US), the Reverend Mary Bredlau found her calling in reaching out to people in the greatest of pain - she has officiated at 350 to 500 funerals a year for 15 years. That's 4,500 to 7,500 souls. The Las Vegas Sun (Nevada) has an inspiring story about this Episcopal priest and former RC nun.

Peter Walker, RIP: 'Walker was a model Church of England bishop – devout, scholarly and pastoral – and had a multitude of friends and admirers. Among these was WH Auden, who once observed: "Friendship with Peter Walker was one of the best things about coming to England."' From the Telegraph.
