Noted This Week

WHENEVER WE LEARN about a web site that we haven't previously listed, we note it here. Sometimes such sites are brand new and sometimes they have been around for a while without our having noticed. We list two weeks' worth, cycling the old ones off each week. As they disappear from this page, you'll find the links moved to their natural home categories in our resource pages. We do not mention on this page remakes of sites that are already in our listings.

If you can't find something that was once here, you can look in our archives or try the AO search engine. It searches our entire site. If you still can't find it, please let us know.

If you would like your website listed at Anglicans Online, please use this form to tell us about it.

Acts 435: 'Acts 435 is a revolutionary website that allows people to give money directly to others. 100% of what is donated via Acts 435 goes directly to those in need. The Patron of Acts 435 is the Archbishop of York, The Most Reverend and Right Honourable Dr. John Sentamu.'

Church MAPs: 'Mission Action Planning is used by many churches and some dioceses to review their mission strategy and then to plan and track their chosen actions usually on an annual basis. In many cases MAP is used as a key part of an overall growth strategy.'

News Centre
Anglican Primates meet in Dublin. Quite interesting facts about clergy. ACNS wants your input. From Sanctuary to sanctuary in Winnipeg. Desecration astounds parishioners in Timaru. Bishop John W Wilson RIP. Bishop swaps pulpit for catwalk. All this, and more, in the News Centre.

Not in the Communion
Anglican Rite Roman Catholic Church: a historical community of the Catholic Faith in the Anglican Tradition! Stemming from its Metropolitan See, the Archdiocese of the Southwest, it operates worldwide to spread the missionary Gospel of the pilgrim Church. Blessed with the gift of autonomy and independence, and in spiritual sympathy and unity with His Holiness, Benedict XVI, we work to exemplify the example of our Lord through the Charism of the Holy Spirt and the Intercessions of Our Lady in the daily advance of spiritual discipleship as our Anglican Catholic Faithful advance in their daily walk with Christ!'

Worth Noting
American Anglicans made me change my mind. 'The American branch of Anglicanism has emerged in the past decade as the global pioneer of liberal Christianity. It has persuaded me not to give up on the church just yet.' Theo Hobson writes for the Guardian.

Robert Crouse RIP: 'The Rev. Dr. Robert Crouse, one of the most influential Canadian theologians of his generation, died Jan. 15 in his rural childhood home on Crouse Road, Crousetown, Nova Scotia, where his family had lived for more than 200 years.' Bishop Anthony Burton writes for The Living Church (Milwaukee).

Integrity Compass: Twelve words in three sentences. 'I wish to share with you a charge given to me...at age twelve during my confirmation to the Anglican faith. I will admit, though I've forgotten much of what I learned during confirmation classes, this charge has remained at the fore.' Kaylus Horton writes in the Bahama Weekly.

It is a forum for the discussion of theology, history, liturgy, spirituality, social justice and other topics from the point of view of Canadian Anglicanism. It is intended to foster communication among Canadian Anglicans and others, and will provide an opportunity for networking, sharing of information and ideas and research collaboration. All are welcome, whether they are Canadians or not, Anglicans or not.'

Mailing lists and discussion boards
Lay Anglicana: 'The place to share news and views from the pews. The intention is for these discussions to centre on worship: to be ecclesiastical rather than theological. There are plenty of good websites devoted to the nature of God, and plenty more (usually clergy-centred) which exist to promote a particular point of view, but none that we know of, primarily for and by the laity, on the who and why and which and what of all strains of Anglican worship.'

News Centre
Primates meeting to start this week. Did Handel play his Messiah in Malta? C of E Synod to debate Mary, divorced bishops. An Anglican/RC covenant in Canada. All this, and more, in the News Centre.

Worth Noting
Another Covenant: The Diocese of Qu'Appelle in Saskatchewan entered today into a Covenant with the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Regina.

The Portal Magazine: 'the free monthly on-line magazine; for those in the Ordinariate of Our Lady of Walsingham; those Anglicans who are interested in the Ordinariate; and all Catholic friends of the Ordinariate'. It would be unfair to call the Roman Catholic Ordinariate for Anglicans 'three former bishops and an online magazine'.
