Noted This Week

WHENEVER WE LEARN about a web site that we haven't previously listed, we note it here. Sometimes such sites are brand new and sometimes they have been around for a while without our having noticed. We list two weeks' worth, cycling the old ones off each week. As they disappear from this page, you'll find the links moved to their natural home categories in our resource pages. We do not mention on this page remakes of sites that are already in our listings.

If you can't find something that was once here, you can look in our archives or try the AO search engine. It searches our entire site. If you still can't find it, please let us know.

If you would like your website listed at Anglicans Online, please use this form to tell us about it.

Worth Noting
CofE, statistically: The Church of England has released new statistics on attendance, giving, ordinations, and related trends. Our link to Thinking Anglicans includes links to the official press release and the statistical report itself.

US Episcopal Schools Celebration: The US National Association of Episcopal Schools declared today to be 'Episcopal School Celebration Sunday', and declared this week to be Episcopal Schools Celebration week. As far as we can tell, those celebrations were only announced inside existing Episcopal schools, which we don't think is likely to generate much outside interest or growth. The event appears not to have been reported at all in the secular media in the US.

Worth Noting
Becoming A Domestic and Foreign Missionary Society: Bishop Stacy Sauls, Chief Operating Officer of the US Episcopal Church, made an important PowerPoint presentation to a recent meeting of the House of Bishops. You can download it here [20.3 MB].

Bible Survey: The Anglican Consultative Council's 'Bible in the Life of the Church project [is] undertaking a Communion-wide survey of the way Anglicans understand and engage with the Bible. We rightly say the Bible is central to our life together but we also engage with it and interpret it in different ways. What are those differences? Why might there be differences? What can we learn from those who differ from us? We are undertaking this survey by means of a questionnaire that is now available online and in a downloadable paper form. It takes about 10-15 minutes to complete and we want as many Anglicans as possible to get involved – either individually or through their local churches. The results from the survey will be included in the final reports that come from the project when it reports to Anglican Consultative Council at its next meeting in November 2012.'
