Noting Global demographic shift in Christianity reported: At the Global Christian Forum in Indonesia, scholars report that in the last century the centre of the Christian world has moved out of Europe. Ecumenical News International includes the information that the percentage of Christians living in Europe has dropped from 66% to 26% in one century. UK chaplains in Afghanistan: 'With their camouflage Bibles and combat crosses, the forces' 278 chaplains are outsiders in the church and the military.' Riazat Butt writes for the Guardian (UK). Wall Street on Wall Street: The rector of Trinity Church, Wall Street, one of the wealthiest church institutions in the world, writes without apparent irony on the Occupy Wall Street protest in New York City. 'Trinity Wall Street respects the rights of citizens to protest peacefully and supports the vigorous engagement of the concerns that form the core of the protests – economic disenfranchisement and failure of public trust.' |

Noting US Episcopal Schools Celebration: The US National Association of Episcopal Schools declared today to be 'Episcopal School Celebration Sunday', and declared this week to be Episcopal Schools Celebration week. As far as we can tell, those celebrations were only announced inside existing Episcopal schools, which we don't think is likely to generate much outside interest or growth. The event appears not to have been reported at all in the secular media in the US. |
