Noted This Week

WHENEVER WE LEARN about a web site that we haven't previously listed, we note it here. Sometimes such sites are brand new and sometimes they have been around for a while without our having noticed. We list two weeks' worth, cycling the old ones off each week. As they disappear from this page, you'll find the links moved to their natural home categories in our resource pages. We do not mention on this page remakes of sites that are already in our listings.

If you can't find something that was once here, you can look in our archives or try the AO search engine. It searches our entire site. If you still can't find it, please let us know.

If you would like your website listed at Anglicans Online, please use this form to tell us about it.

The purpose of the festival is to gather acolytes from around the Diocese of Western Kansas to learn new skills, hone old skills, and increase our effectiveness as ministers before the altar of Christ. Activities include workshops on acolyting, a banquet held in honor of the acolytes, and the Acolyte Olympics where the acolytes from each church vie for the coveted Acolyte Trophy and a full year of bragging rights.'

Skeletons in the Sacristy: '"Most parishes do have stuff in their closets," says Speed Leas of the Alban Institute and a specialist in parish conflict. "Some have worked through it, and had substantial growth. But if you have a place that calls a lot of rectors and just runs through them, or clergy say 'that's a tough place,' then you have a place that needs some attention."' The Revd Lindsay Hardin Freeman writes for Vestry Papers.

Worth Noting
A word on [American Episcopalian] seminaries: Consolidate! 'Fiscal constraints have prompted announcement of major program or organizational alliance changes at the Episcopal Divinity School, Seabury Western, General Theological Seminary, and Bexley Hall. Concurrently, the cost of seminary education continues to escalate, leaving many graduates with significant debt and discouraging some potential students from attending. Meanwhile, enrollment at the eleven seminaries affiliated with the Episcopal Church (TEC) has declined by 35% over the past five years.' George Clifford writes for the Daily Episcopalian.

Our churches are filled with hidden beauty: Jonathan Jones writes in the Guardian (UK). 'Despite the ravages of the Reformation, Britain's churches are still full of glorious medieval art. What are the best examples in your area?'
