We worry, though, whether a bilby would eat an egg instead of delivering it
Glad you referenced the Easter Bilby (an Australian marsupial) in your comments on Easter. A reminder that Christianity is not all about the Northern hemisphere and Western civilisation.
Here it is bizarre to talk about Spring when Autumn is well underway. The bunny is a pest in Australia! it is getting darker not lighter!! How on earth do we connect?
But what's wrong with the Easter egg hunt? You seem to suggest that it is some how sub-Christian. We all need to be reminded that Jesus was incarnate in the world of the Easter egg (and indeed the world of Santa!).
To suggest anything less is to forget the importance of the Word becoming flesh

Editor: Our problem with Easter egg hunts is the number of people who use them as a replacement for Christian celebration of Easter, rather than as a component of it. You are quite right about its importance as part of celebrating Easter. And of course electronic game designers need easter eggs.
Canimus, ergo est
I have a question about your favourite hymn, why did I learn it 'Christ the Lord is Risen Today' with otherwise the same words and tune? Was this an aberration of my home church's hymnal? I have never seen it since. Happy Easter.

Editor: It is very common for talented church music directors to adjust the words in hymns or add verses. In this case, the adjustment was done by the Wesley brothers in 1739. We've seen hymnals that list both versions, to different tunes. As long as it is sung to 'Easter Hymn' we're quite happy with both versions. When you start singing to 'Nassau' it becomes a different hymn.
