Letters from the week of 25 October- 1 November 2015
Like
all letters to the editor everywhere, these letters express
the opinions of the writers and not Anglicans Online.
We publish letters that we think will be of interest
to our readers, whether we agree with them or not. If

Rhythm of Church
While I am certainly sympathetic with your grandfather, who was unable to hear the rest of the congregation, I find churches where the prayers are said speedily very disconcerting, and sometimes literally can't keep up with the Creed or the Lord's Prayer. In 28 years as rector of one parish, I found that the parishioners and I developed a rather measured pace. When a visitor from another denomination came to a funeral and complained to a parishioner that it would have been "over" sooner if we had gone faster, she told him that we spoke with deliberation because we meant what we said.
