Dear friends,
Alas, the area where I live is experiencing massively severe thunderstorms, coupled
with tornado warnings. The electrical power has gone, and as a result of this fearsome
weather I shall again turn over this week's update to Brian Reid, publisher of Anglicans
Online. I must say my dramatic weather rather fits with the coming of the Holy Spirit!
A blessed Pentecost to you all.

Each week we draw closer to the opening of the Lambeth Conference,
and various news emerges. We note the availability of Lambeth souvenirs advertised on the Official Web Site of the
Anglican Communion in London A correspondent in Ontario
reported to us the companion web page for a conference in Lambeth of Anglican gift shop operators.
We suspect it might be a parody.
There's some good stuff this week in the News Centre, and I think you should just go look
at it instead of me retyping many of the stories here. It takes three clicks of your
red heels, but just one click of your mouse. Well, OK, I'll retype a couple of them. The General Synod
of the Anglican Church in Japan has voted to allow the ordination of women. The Sunday
Times (London) reports yet another sex-related scandal in the Anglican Church. Clearly
The Sunday Times find this all to be quite fascinating.
Canada's General Synod is now concluded. You can read the wrapup reports at the same location
where you found the ongoing coverage.
We draw your attention to an article that we found interesting,
in the May 1998 issue of Computer-Mediated Communication Magazine
entitled "Developing Personal and Emotional Relationships Via Computer-Mediated Communication".
Mike Olteanu, the hard-working Rumanian one-time refugee who created
and maintains the amazing Christus
Rex web site, now has the Lord's Prayer in 30 languages. It's actually 71
languages, but Mike doesn't like to boast.
About 20 new parishes listed. Two in Switzerland, two in Australia,
a dozen or so in Canada.
We have received a request for a copy of the Anglican Litany for
World Peace. If you can help, please contact Mr. W. Joseph Hicks at WJoeHicks@worldnet.ATT.net
See you next week. I may have received my Lambeth
Coffee Mug by then. Or did I forget to order one?
