Hallo again to all. There are quite a few good church-related publications and several excellent Anglican Church-related publications. What makes Anglicans Online different is that, as far as we can, we report only on that portion of the Anglican communion that is online. If a bishop is consecrated somewhere, we will do our best to tell you about it. If the diocese has reported or described the event on a web page, we will absolutely tell you about it and we will link you to it. All throughout Anglicans Online, in every section, we list only the online resources. We don't list parishes; rather, we list those parishes that have web pages. We don't list book stores; rather, we list those book stores that have web pages. You get the idea. This week the USA contingent of Anglicans Online staffers attended the ordination of our online friend, Ann Markle. An ordination is absolutely not an online event; it requires that the bishop physically touch the ordinand. But ordinations largely determine the future of the church (along with baptisms and education.) Every generation runs the risk of being the last generation for any church, and the selection and training of ordinands has a large effect on what the church will be in twenty years. We therefore this week step slightly out of character and report a non-online event. Brian wrote this commentary on the ordination of Ann Markle to the transitional diaconate by the Rt. Rev. Michael Garrison, Bishop of Western New York. This week we bring you several new parish sites from various parts of the Anglican Communion. Sometimes parish web pages are overshadowed by diocesan or provincial web sites making their first appearance, but this rather quiet week you may want to take time to explore the parishes we list in New This Week. For a change of pace, if you are an ordained person, you might also like to check just how much science you actually know and compare it to what Dr Ed Friendlander thinks you should know. (Have fun taking the quiz even if you are a lay person.) Staying in the science arena, for the latest on the topic of science and religion, check the good roster of links assembled by Greenbelt Interfaith News. In the News Centre, more obituaries and tributes to Cardinal Hume have arrived, primarily from weekly publications.
