Discussion
Douglas LeBlanc, a highly regarded religion reporter, recently left his position at Episcopalians United and thus oversight of the mailing list 'Anglican Voice'. He has now begun an independent mailing list of his own. Details here.

CHANT-L is a new mailing list devoted to, well, chant. Here's more information.

LitML: Those interested in XML and knowledgeable in one of several areas might like to join a project to develop a liturgical markup language (provisionally 'LitML', a subset of XML) and form a mailing list. This is all made clearer here.

The Church of England is having a Synod, and so is the Church of the Province of Southern Africa. Guess which one is doing a better job of publicity? Archbishop of Melbourne Keith Rayner speaks out on The Gift of Authority. Ruth Gledhill writes admiringly of the Archbishop of Canterbury's newfound political muscle. The British press writes a torrent of sensational articles about the Synod, much of which is actually true. Anglicans Online's UK reporter files a story about the Nicene Creed. The Church Times fails to publish online a letter to the editor written from #10 Downing Street, but we publish it for them, and for you. Peter Owen reports for Anglicans Online on the new Church-Search service. The Bishop of Oxford writes about Kosovo; the Church Times writes about the Archbishops' council, and the ABC delivers a formal response to the Stephen Lawrence Enquiry. The Bishop of Gibraltar and the Bishop of London travel to war zones but are not allowed into Belgrade. More than you ever wanted to know about St Paul's Brockton, and the first official visit of the PB of ECUSA to Russia.

More madness on the Millennium Dome. The Church of England starts an advertising campaign. Academics turn to angels and eroticism. The BBC finds something to say about the upcoming Church of England Synod. That same Church has published upbeat statistics about itself on its web site. St Paul's Brockton asks you to read their web site if you are making up your mind about the squabble there. An Australian Roman Catholic priest draws the ire of Cardinal Ratzinger by suggesting that Anglicans matter. All this and more in the News Centre.
