Dear friends round the world,
We
have all seen, heard, and read so much in the last days about the appalling tragedies in the United States that we asked ourselves what service
we could provide for you in this edition of Anglicans Online. We decided the best thing we could offer was a specific
page with Anglican-related links having to do with 11 September 2001. Many of the press releases and sermons you may have seen already,
but perhaps you'll find it useful to have them collected in one place.
We've also highlighted in our News Centre articles
and comment related to the American tragedy we think particularly worthy of your attention, as well as gathering for you the few other Anglican-related
news stories in online media this week.
Words fail at this time, but poetry can carry on when ordinary prose stumbles.
We leave you with this:
Since hate is with us still,
I wish men love;
I wish, since hovering hawks still strike to kill,
The coming of the dove;
And since the ghouls of terror and despair
Are still abroad,
I wish the world once more within the care
Of those who have seen God.
Eleanor Farjeon,
Excerpt from The New Year
See you next week.
