Noted This Week

WHENEVER WE LEARN about a web site that we haven't previously listed, we'll note it here. Sometimes such sites are brand new and sometimes they have been around for a while without our having noticed. We list two weeks’ worth, cycling the old ones off each week. As they disappear from this page, you'll find the links moved to their natural home categories in our resource pages. We do not mention on this page remakes of sites that are already in our listings.

If you can't find something that was once here, you can look in our archives or try the AO search engine. It searches our entire site. If you still can't find it, please let us know.

If you would like your website listed at Anglicans Online, please use this form to tell us about it.

Worth Noting
Anglicans who've lost their memory: Christopher Howse writes in the Telegraph (London). 'Like an unwatched pan of milk, readers of the Church Times have seethed up and boiled over in response to an analysis of the Church of England by the ever-controversial historian Jonathan Clark'. Thinking Anglicans has a helpful summary of the ongoing press debate on this topic.

Fashioning the world anew with winged thoughts: Chief Rabbi Jonathan Sacks writes for the Times (London). 'Great words make people think in new ways. We are as big or small as language makes us. At its best, language is an epiphany, revealing to us the glory of the human spirit and the radiance of the created world.'

A kingdom, but not as we know it: Christopher Rowland—Dean Ireland Professor of the Exegesis of Holy Scripture at the University of Oxford—writes for Ekklesia on disestablishment of the Church of England. 'It has always struck me as a very strange phenomenon that a church rooted in Scripture can so readily try to offer theological support for an established church.'

Your Church Wedding: 'Whether you're just contemplating marriage, or already planning your wedding day, your church wants to help and support you. And, on October 1st 2008 a new law came into effect, meaning there are now more churches to choose from for your special day and for generations to come.' From the Archbishops' Council of the Church of England.

Sound & Spirit (produced by WGBH, Boston (US) distributed by PRI) provides a selection of one hour podcasts. Eclectic and cross-cultural, playlists and bibliographies are also available.
