Events
Canada: Ontario, London, 13-15 May 2013: The House that Isaac Built: The Architecture of Cultures and Identities in Canada
'The House that Isaac Built is an interdisciplinary conference planned in celebration of the 150th anniversary of Huron University College. Huron was founded in 1863 by Bishop Cronyn to supply clergy trained in strictly "Protestant and Evangelical" principles for the fledgling Diocese of Huron, and now offers undergraduate liberal arts programs alongside an ongoing commitment to theological education. With the career of Huron's first principal Isaac Hellmuth serving as the inspiration, the conference seeks fresh perspectives on the intellectual, social, and political context of Huron's founding, and on the contested cultural landscape that Hellmuth's work helped to shape.'

Worth
Noting
Baptism for All: The Church Times (London) has a leader on the 'proprietorial view of baptism'. 'The candle that is presented at most baptisms is an apt symbol for the spark that is struck whenever a newcomer encounters Christ. It might take a while, and further tending, for the flame to show.'
Building for mission, not monument: Anglican Journal (Canada) writes on Bishop Victoria Matthews' decision to deconsecrate and demolish historic Christchurch Cathedral in New Zealand.
Orthodox Arts Journal: 'publishes articles and news for the promotion of traditional Orthodox liturgical arts. The Journal covers visual arts, music, liturgical ceremony and texts, and relevant art history and theory. The Journal presents these topics together to highlight the unified witness of the arts to the beauty of the Kingdom of God and to promulgate an understanding of how the arts work together in the worship of the Church.'
Why
We Should Do Politics like Episcopalians: Greg Garrett writes on Patheos. 'Could the Episcopal process of "via media," or the middle way, cultivate greater truth and reconciliation in these politically divisive times?'
Commons
answers prayers:
Lindnor Reynolds writes in the Winnipeg Free Press of the transformation of St Matthew into an affordable housing commons.
'Leaving is not how you serve the community,' says lifelong congregant and WEC board member Bob Clarkson. 'The building was put here for the community.'
