Dunedin, St Matthew (Dunedin) News Centre
England survives a synod. Discussion of Pax Christi. 26 bishops sign an angry petition (we are quite certain you are going to be wrong
if you try to guess what petition they have signed). Much wringing of hands over predicted 'gay clergy row'. Great wringing of hands in
Kenya because a retired bishop cremated his deceased wife instead of following tradition and the Bible and burying her. All this, and
hardly a whit more, in the News Centre.
Preaching Resources
Lectionary Central: Anglican sermon resources for the traditional
lectionary. Includes sermons, patristic commentary, music, poetry, anecdotes, humour, images, and more.
Religious Orders
Community of the Holy Name: 'This community was founded in 1865 in response to the need for evangelism
and care in London - especially the parish of St Peter's Vauxhall. Twenty years later the need for more space and silence so that the
sisters prayer life could grow encouraged the community to move the Convent to Malvern. The sisters continued to work in parishes from
both the Convent and branch houses, while some sisters were engaged in social work. This combination of a life of prayer and worship with
ministry to those in need is still the hallmark of the Community. Today Sisters are engaged in evangelistic and pastoral work in a variety
of settings.' Society of St John the Evangelist (UK):
An Anglican order of monks founded in 1866 at Cowley in Oxford.

Worth Noting
High pressure, long hours and low paythe
life of a vicar is no longer a tea party: The Telegraph's Cassandra Jardine finds out what it takes to be a vicar in the 21st century.
Youth
Episcopalian on FireAn Anglican/Episcopalian youth resource site:
A wonderful resource for Anglican youth. The 19-year-old webmaster says: 'It contains info about the Scriptures, Sacraments, Anglican
Heritage, etc. It also discusses "issues-at-large". Each page has a "suggested external link" on the bottom, and selected
bibliographies will be placed on the site soon. The site is all finished, except for the "issues-at-large" section, which will
be finished very soon. (I mean, possibly tomorrow.)' If we had any money, we'd hire this man as an Anglicans Online staff writer.
