What's New This Week

ALL THE NEW URLS we receive each week are here. We list two (sometimes three) weeks’ worth, cycling the old ones off each week. As they disappear from this page, you'll find the links moved to their natural home categories in our resource pages.

If you can't find something that was once here, you can look in our archives or try the AO search engine. It searches our entire site and also many important official Anglican sites worldwide. If you still can't find it, please let us know.

If you would like your website listed here, please use this form to tell us about it.

The Mothers' Union: ‘The Mothers' Union (MU) is a Christian organisation of more than 3.6 million members working in 77 countries, women passionate about caring for families everywhere. Book Reviews
War and Faith in the Sudan, by Gabriel Meyers, reviewed in the Church Times by Timothy Biles. Portraying more of the 'Nuba people in the mountains of Central Sudan during the Civil War' than of Sudan, Biles travels with a Roman Catholic bishop, and raises many issues of differing faith and culture without attempting to resolve them.

The Smile of a Ghost, by Phil Rickman, reviewed in the Church Times by Jonathan Boardman. A novel, the story focuses on a series of spooky deaths in and around Ludlow Castle, and whether they might be related to the presence in the town of a rock singer who has made her name as a morbid "Gothic" heroine in a cult music scene.

Validity is Everything. Should it be?: Steven R. Ford writes in The Living Church (Milwaukee) about validity as a consuming interest in parts of the Anglican world. 'We, as Anglicans, have a deep and rightful commitment to the historic episcopate. Yet we willingly divide ourselves according to which particular line we consider to be "valid." Where will it ever end?'

Open for You: The Church, the Visitor and the Gospel, by Paul Bond, reviewed by Victor Stock in the Church Times. 'What is obvious to the churchgoer is not obvious to the visitor.' Why do we show off our edifices without relating what they mean to and for our faith?

'It's a short book (150 pages)... offering tools to enable you to take an honest look at your parish. [Smith is] able only to scratch the surface; and yet his scratch is intelligent and helpful.'
